The Inter-American Bank through its Climate Change Division has developed the Sustainable Islands Platform to support resilience and economic growth in island territories throughout Latin American and the Caribbean. To help achieve the objectives of the platform, the IDB is currently conducting a series of regional roundtables to educate destinations on the principles of the Blue and Circular Economies.
These technical sessions with local stakeholders discuss a series of case studies about initiatives and projects that Governments can implement to overcome island challenges and share insights on opportunities that are mostly unique to island territories. These sessions also provide information on how to incorporate principles of the Circular and Blue Economies into such interventions to inform potential replication of similar efforts in participating island territories and countries.
